What will I learn?
- Team & Project Management
- Community Service
- Communication & Public Speaking
- Fiscal Responsibility
- Professional Skills
How do I learn?
YLC members will be tightly integrated with both our highly experienced Leadership Team as well as our senior Youth Programs. While working with the Leadership Team they will learn how a highly effective team works together to plan, develop and execute exciting and educational weekly programming to support youth in our community. As YLC members themselves get older, more leadership opportunities become available to to volunteer with older youth.
All YLC members will undertake the standard training courses of a Scouts Canada volunteer as well as any professional training required for programming such as Standard First Aid & Food Safe. Specialized training such as Avalanche Training and Leave No Trace will be provided as needed. Any training needed to support the program as a volunteer will be covered by the Program.
YLC members will also be integrated with our Senior Youth Programs and will take part in project planning teams to further support development of their team work and project management abilities while also having fun and meeting new friends. The Senior Youth Programs meet regularly once a month to discuss projects, but members can take part in many activities and join project teams that meet more regularly. Any activity or interest is on the table so come prepared for endless adventure!
